April 1st Elections

Local elections are April 1st.  Early voting has begun.  They are important to us all.  I will specifically address the District 90 School Board of Education (BOE) election. OTHS BOE candidates are unopposed.

Remember when you vote, ALL the D90 incumbents voted to increase your taxes this year by 9.9%!  Three of the four voted to raise your taxes by 8% each of the last two years!  Those same three, passed a $19.5 million Backdoor Referendum Working Cash Bond without asking you, thus preventing a 16% decrease in D90 property taxes and an overall 6% decrease in your total property tax bill.

The current BOE does not publicly discuss issues.  They do not answer questions at BOE meetings or Tax/Bond Hearings, or want any discussion or feedback: the whole purpose of a Hearing!  In over two years, only two BOE members answered any of my emails, and neither of those two are running for reelection this cycle.

So, what do we do?  We vote them out!  I heartily recommend that you vote only for Challengers to the present Board of Education!  Underwood and Cobb for sure.  Incumbents are VanHook, Weber, & Lynam-Miller.  Andrews is unopposed for a separate seat.

Caroline Malare needs to be our next City Clerk.  She is a Write In Candidate.  Write Her In!  Her opponent is not an honorable person. He used his office to ensure her name is not on your ballet.

Vote Ron Zelms for City Treasurer so he can disclose where our money is, why, and then eliminate this unnecessary job!

Learn who your candidates are and what they represent. Some resources are the attending the upcoming Candidate Forum (March 8th, 2-4 pm, @ Toast & Table) and/or listening to the 618NOW Pod Cast (March 10th). Most importantly: GET OUT and VOTE!!
